Swine Flu

So over the last couple of days, I've been freaking out about this new dangerous virus called the swine flu. It is a highly contagious disease that affects the respiratory system, and WHO has said that this virus might become a pandemic, WHICH SUCKS.

According to this
article, the swine flu has been responsible for 86 deaths in Mexico, and that this virus is spreading to the United States. The high school in New York City, St. Francis Preparatory School, already has 8 confirmed cases of the swine flu, and Texas and California have reported a couple of cases too.

So I'm pretty scared. I'm hoping that this flu will die out and never bother us again, but, considering a LOT of people don't realize what's going on, it might be too late for people to take action. So take action people. Wash hands regularly, and if you have flu-like symptoms, GO SEE A DOCTOR, cause we definitely do not want this virus spreading around our school.

Food, food, food

So I was bored and looking at random articles when I saw one called "20 Worst Foods in America".

Anyways, I'm looking through these foods and I couldn't help but wonder why would people want to eat these foods. For example, there's a "Healthy Sandwich" (Blimpie Veggie Supreme)that has 1,100 calories because it has three different cheeses in it, it's drenched with oil, and it's a foot long. Doesn't that sound SO appetizing?

They have an assortment of foods that range from 1,000-2,500 calories, like the "Worst Burger: Chili's Smokehouse Bacon Triple-The-Cheese Big Mouth Burger with Jalapeno Ranch Dressing" (<----seriously? is all that information necessary?). It's 2,040 calories, it has bacon, three types of cheeses, and Jalapeno Ranch, oh, and did I mention it's huge too? Yummy.

But anyways, all I'm trying to say is...DON'T EAT THIS STUFF PEOPLE M'KAY? Cause you're probably going to get heart failure or something if you do.

Mall Cop Review

So recently, a coupla my friends and I went to the movie, Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It's about this mall cop, named Paul Blart, and he patrols the mall. He goes to parties, makes sure the mall is safe, and creepily stalks his crush, the girl who works at the kiosk for fake hair. Then, the mall gets hijacked by a couple of people, the leader being the new "mall cop" in disguise. It is up to Paul Blart to save the day. Yay.

I personally thought that this movie was so ridiculously stupid, that it was funny. There were some parts where the acting just wasn't that good; it was a little bit to dramatized. The main character was pretty funny, and I think he did a great job of portraying a role that was stupid and somewhat serious at the same time.

Overall, I would give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5. Even though the acting was okay, the movie did have some really funny momments.

Heath Ledger

As some of you may well know, Heath Ledger, one of the world's most famous actors, died last year on January 22.

Heath Ledger, an actor known famously for his roles such as Brokeback Mountain (Ennis) and The Dark Knight (The Joker), died at age 28, at around 3 p.m. in his room. It was tragic and devastating news that shocked his family, his adored fans, and the rest of the world.

Personally, I love Heath Ledger as an actor. He gave 100% to everything he does, and enjoyed it. Even though he had to deal with a case of insomnia, which led to his accidental overdose of Ambien, he always put that to the side and gave energy to everything.

If you don't know who Heath Ledger is, watch the Dark Knight or another movie he's been in. His interpretation of the Joker is haunting, amazing, and Oscar-worthy.

RIP Heath Ledger.

SLEEP

It really makes me spazz out when people tell me that they aren't getting enough sleep, they stay up until 2 every morning, they "die" when they're in class, etc.

Yet, it also really makes me laugh when these sleep websites say that "most of the people aren't getting enough sleep, it's bad for you," and my favorite, "sleep more." Yes, that's definitely a great solution for people who don't have enough time on their hands. I NEVER would have thought of that until your site mentioned it.

Sites like these are helpful, but at times I can't stop wondering how naive they are. I mean, honestly, we know we're not getting enough sleep, and yes we do want to sleep more, but we have no time. We have extracurriculars, work, and most of all, homework. Take a typical student's schedule. They're done with school at 3, have sports until 5 or 6, come home to eat dinner, maybe work for a couple hours, and end up starting homework at 9 or 10. Or, they have a club instead of work that lasts a couple hours, or maybe some community service project. However, those people who stay up wasting their time on Facebook or AIM don't deserve any sympathy. They could finish their homework and still get to bed on time. It's their fault.

So, to sum it all up, sleep is good, yes we want to sleep, BUT, we don't have time.

Ganglion cysts

So, I have a skin...disorder....called a ganglion cyst.

It's quite lovely, you know, you get this huge bump on your wrist or somewhere around your hand, and all of a sudden, people around you see it and scream, "What is that?!" Yes, it's fun. It's like you have this planet growing on your wrist and it doesn't look abnormal at all. Nope. Not at all.

I think I've actually had this cyst for a couple years now, and I really didn't want to get surgery, not only because surgery scares me a lot, but I don't like doctors cutting my hand open and doing something bad to it that would affect my violin playing.

Apparently, I had a cyst a couple years ago on my other hand, and it disappeared. According to some doctor, if you put pressure on it, then the cyst "breaks" and the body "absorbs" it cause it can't really clump together.

I didn't want to upload a video because I was too scared to watch it.

So, this is what a ganglion cyst looks like. And yes, I have this kind of bump on my wrist.

OCD

So lately, I've been thinking really hard, and I came to the conclusion that I probably have a small form of OCD.

OCD, or otherwise known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, is something that makes a person feel compulsive thoughts and do duties that has to be applied the correct form, or else they freak out. I'm not that bad YET, but I feel like lately I've been having a lot of those moments.

For example, there might be something that will bother me, and then I'll be thinking about that the WHOLE ENTIRE DAY, and I will stress/freak out about it because it will bother me, and then I would get mad at something random, making me freak out more, etc.

So this is probably not OCD, but I mean there's something wrong with me. I don't know, maybe a lot of stress, but whatever it is, it's eating away my life.
